We are installing a new application where the vendor requires an xml file produced by the application to be uploaded to their ftp server on a daily basis. We are using Forefront TMG 2010 SP1 and can not upload the file, either through the FTPmonitor client the vendor provides, or even using Windows Explorer. The clients we are using to attempt this have the TMG Firewall Client installed. TMG is used as a proxy and the clients must travel accross our WAN to TMG and then out to the internet.
We have taken the following steps on TMG.
1. Created a rule (in addition to our normal ftp rule) to allow all traffic for all users from Internal to the FTP site defined as an address range.
2. Unchecked the allow read only box in the configure ftp menu option for the rule
3. Allow Active FTP Access through the FTP Application Filter.
We can log into the site with username and password. When using the FTPmonitor client to attempt the upload the logging does not show an error but the file is not uploaded. The FTPmonitor log shows "access is denied". However, when trying to login to the site with WE the TMG log shows a closed connection with a result code of 0x80074e24 FWX_E_CONNECTION_KILLED.
The explanation in TechNet is “Forefront TMG killed a connection”. Not much help there.
We can upload files to this site from outside our network.
This is something we really need to get working. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
