I have users on my network that are going to be using Zune software to stay current with tech trends through podcasts and so that they can listen to their own music while they are working. I am trying to get the Zune software to work correctly through TMG, however to this point I have had little to no success. The first thing that I tried to get this to wokr correctly was I setup a protocol that used the ports detailed in this link going outbound for the TCP port and send receive for the UDP ports, and then setup an allowance for those protocols to communicate with the External network and the LAN. When this did not work, I then created a protocol that allowed the TCP inbound and added this to the allowance as well. Still, did not work correctly. As I was not able to get even logged into Zune using my Windows Live ID, I added a seperate allowance that allowed all networks to use the Live Messenger pre-defined protocol on all networks. While this did allow for logins to the Zune service to go through, there is still the issue with the media not transfering across TMG to the Zune software. Then, finally I allowed all protocols (except HTTP and HTTPS because that is defined in the Web Access allowances) to go from the LAN to the External network and that is still not working correctly. I believe this might also be related to why Windows Media Player is not able to play videos opened from web sites as well. I have tried to get this working in a number of different ways, and am still having issues and would like to have some ideas.
