Dear Experts,
Due to a high bandwidth utilization by one of the newspaper website and by looking to our TMG Reports, we found that "alwasatnews.com" is one of the top site in term of internet connection consumption.
We are planning to enable TMG caching against the mentioned site to reduce the bandwidth overhead, but I need your advise on the below:
- Caching the entire domain"alwasatnews.com" is somehow costly because it will download the entire content of the site, which is not required.
- By looking to detailed report about the user usage, we found that the users are downloading the PDF copy of the newspaper on daily basis from the following link
"alwasatnews.com/data/2012/3762/pdf/*.*" . The red part of the link is a newspaper issue number and it’s a variable integer which will be incremented by +1 daily.
Examples:
Sunday Newspaper issue: “alwasatnews.com/data/2012/3760/pdf/fir1.pdf”
Monday Newspaper issue: “alwasatnews.com/data/2012/3761/pdf/fir1.pdf”
Tuesday Newspaper issue: “alwasatnews.com/data/2012/3762/pdf/fir1.pdf”
Is there any possibility for TMG to cache "alwasatnews.com/data/2012/<system variable>/pdf/*.*". and define a windows system variable with the issue number? Undoubtedly, there will be a daily scheduled task to increment the system variable of the newspaper issue number by +1.
Please let us know the possibility of implementing the above scenario.
Best Regards :)
