I have encountered a very strange problem (or maybe not strange at all!). A client of mine has two HP DL380 G7 ProLiant servers that are used as Server 2008R2 Hyper-V hosts. There was an issue with the Smart Array P410i controller management software
(which was old) so I decided to update all drivers. There were quite a few issues during the updating using HP Smart Update Manager but in the end everything update fine.
The problem with the HP Smart Array P410i controller still exists and we now have a new problem... even though all the network connections claim to have internet access, it is actually very limited. We can connect to the Google page and do searches but the
browser (I tried three different ones) will not connect to any websites. There doesn't seem to be a problem with DNS either.
I also tried the IP addresses of those websites in the browser to no avail.
I then noticed an error message on our TMG server; it said that there was a problem with the web cache. I then realised that the D drive that holds the cache memory was inaccessible. Even with the web cache turned off, we are still unable to browse
the internet. Furthermore, there is an AD connectivity issue (I can ping the DC from TMG) between the TMG server and the domain controllers...
All our servers are virtualised so I suspect, the driver updating has somehow broken some Hyper-V component...
Does anyone have any steps in mind on how to troubleshoot this issue or has encountered a similar issue?
Many thanks
